Remote US Tax Director Role - Work From Home Philippines — Columbus
Traveler-Friendly Insight
This role is fully remote (Work From Home) and based in the Philippines, making it accessible to Philippine-based professionals regardless of their specific city. However, location flexibility is limited: the job requires working US Eastern Time-aligned hours (preferred 8:00 AM–4:00 PM EST, which is 9:00 PM–5:00 AM PHT, or as early as 4:00 AM EST / 5:00 PM PHT). This is a significant timezone constraint that effectively anchors your working day to a nocturnal or late-evening schedule if you're based in the Philippines.
Async friendliness is low. Client-facing responsibilities, real-time collaboration with a growing PH team, and year-round client advisory duties all point to a largely synchronous role. This is not a "work whenever you want" position.
For digital nomads: while the role is technically remote, the fixed US Eastern hours make it difficult to work from locations outside Southeast Asia without severely disrupting your sleep schedule. Nomad-friendly destinations like Lisbon, Medellín, or Bangkok would compound the timezone gap (UTC+1, UTC-5, UTC+7 respectively), making EST alignment even harder from most of those locations.
- Bangkok (UTC+7): 8 AM EST = 8 PM local — workable but late evenings.
- Lisbon (UTC+0/+1): 8 AM EST = 1–2 PM local — actually favorable, but the role appears Philippines-specific.
- Medellín (UTC-5): 8 AM EST = 8 AM local — great timezone match, but likely outside allowed countries.
No travel perks (coworking, equipment stipend, meetup budget) are mentioned. This role suits a Philippines-based professional seeking a stable, long-term WFH career rather than a location-independent nomad lifestyle.
