Traveler-Friendly Insight

This role is remote-first within Australia — which is a meaningful distinction for location-independent workers. While the toolstack (Slack, ClickUp, Figma, Google Workspace) is fully async-compatible, the nature of the work involves weekly client calls and monthly business reviews, meaning some schedule alignment with Australian business hours (AEST/AEDT, UTC+10/+11) is effectively required.

Critically, the posting states you must be based in Australia with full work rights and explicitly notes visa sponsorship is not available. This rules out digital nomads on tourist or short-stay visas, as well as most international nomad visa arrangements.

  • Who this works for: Australian citizens or permanent residents who want to work remotely from anywhere within Australia — coastal towns, regional areas, or major cities.
  • Who this doesn't work for: International nomads, those on working holiday visas, or anyone without existing Australian work rights.

If you hold Australian residency and prefer remote work, this is a genuinely flexible setup. The "no layers, no billable hours" culture and async toolstack suggest a results-oriented environment. However, the client-facing nature means you'll need reliable internet and the discipline to show up on schedule for calls aligned to AU time zones.

About RocketAMS
RocketAMS is a fast-growing Amazon specialist agency. We run the whole Amazon channel for consumer brands, covering sales, advertising, and creative. We also run retail media on Woolworths, Coles, and Chemist Warehouse, and support brands in Japan, the US, and the UK. We're independent and founder-led, and we want our Australian team to have great careers here as we grow.

The Role
We're looking for a Brand Manager who comes from a design background. You'll own a portfolio of client accounts end to end, and you'll lead the UX and creative work that runs through them. That covers Brand Stores, A+ content, product detail pages, listing imagery, and video.

This role suits someone who has been a studio manager or UX lead in an agency. You've run a studio, faced clients, and can talk design with confidence. You don't need to be on the tools. You do need to brief well, review the work critically, and explain to a client why it works.

You don't need Amazon experience. We'll teach you that. What matters is that you know how agencies run, you can manage designers, and you can hold a client relationship under pressure.

What You'll Do

  • Own a portfolio of client accounts — weekly calls, monthly business reviews, priorities, and trust
  • Run one of our design studios day to day: set priorities, brief the designers, and keep work moving
  • Lead creative and UX conversations with clients from brief through to feedback and sign-off
  • Bring a UX lens to how shoppers move through a Brand Store, A+ module, or product page, especially on mobile
  • Review every piece of creative before it goes to a client — quality, clarity, and brand fit sit with you
  • Turn client goals and brand guidelines into clear direction for designers, copywriters, and specialists
  • Read performance data (such as conversion rate and sessions) and turn it into the next creative or UX change
  • Step in on creative for other brand managers when their client has a creative director or brand lead in the room
  • Spot risks early and fix problems calmly

What This Role Is Not

  • Not a designer role — you guide the work, you don't make it
  • Not a pure UX research or product design role
  • Not a creative director role with no client book

How We Hire
Application review → Initial interview → Video interview → Online assessment → Behavioural interview → Paid project → Reference check → Offer

The process is thorough because we want the best people, and we want you to interview us as much as we interview you.

You'll Suit This If You

  • Have worked in an agency as a studio manager, UX lead, design lead, or creative account manager
  • Have managed designers and set their priorities across several clients at once
  • Have owned client relationships, not just supported them
  • Can explain composition, hierarchy, user flow, and brand fit to a client in plain words
  • Are organised, calm under pressure, and good at keeping momentum

Required

  • 3+ years in a creative, design, digital, or UX agency
  • Experience managing a studio or a team of designers
  • Experience owning client relationships end to end
  • Strong design and UX literacy, even if you no longer design every day
  • Comfortable with Figma, ClickUp or similar, Google Sheets, and Slack
  • Based in Australia with full work rights — we can't sponsor visas

Nice to Have

  • Ecommerce, retail, or DTC brand experience
  • Exposure to Amazon, marketplaces, or retail media
  • Packaging, brand identity, or campaign creative experience
  • Freelance experience, so you know how to find, manage, and keep clients

Benefits

  • Real ownership — you run your client portfolio end to end
  • Close to the creative, working with our in-house design team every day
  • A clear growth path: Brand Manager → Senior Brand Manager → Brand Director
  • A high-trust team with autonomy and accountability — no layers, no billable hours
  • Remote-first, with modern tools (ClickUp, Slack, Google Workspace, Figma)
