Traveler-Friendly Insight

This role has a notable perk for location-independent workers: Triptease explicitly offers 4 weeks of working abroad per year, within a +/- 3 hour time zone of the UK. That means popular nomad bases like Lisbon (UTC+1), Medellín (UTC-5 — outside the window), or Tallinn (UTC+3) could qualify seasonally, while Bangkok (UTC+7) would not fit the constraint.

However, it's important to note that this is primarily a UK-based contract role. The position is contract/temporary in nature (10+ weeks), focused on a specific system migration project. The requirement to "start immediately" and "work independently" suggests some schedule flexibility, but the role involves phone-based collections, which likely requires standard business hours aligned to UK/European time zones.

  • Async-friendliness: Low — phone collections require synchronous communication during business hours
  • Timezone constraint: UK/Europe hours strongly implied (+/- 3 hr window for the work-abroad benefit)
  • Visa consideration: This is a UK-based role; UK nationals or those with existing UK work rights are the target audience
  • Travel perk: The 4-week work-abroad allowance is a genuine nomad-friendly perk for the right candidate

For nomads seeking a short-term finance contract with a travel tech company and a built-in work-abroad policy, this is worth considering — provided you have UK work authorisation.

Triptease is a hotel technology company helping independent hotels and groups drive more direct bookings. We invoice customers worldwide through three regional entities, each with its own ledger and multiple currencies.

We are moving to a new finance system in December. Before then, we want our sales ledgers clean, reconciled and accurate, so we migrate good data and start the new year strong.

Working alongside the Credit Control team, you will focus primarily on collections while supporting ledger clean-up and migration readiness.

This is a role for an experienced, self-sufficient credit controller who can take ownership of a collections workload and deliver results with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Chase overdue invoices by phone and email, prioritising the oldest and largest balances
  • Manage dunning sequences and customer correspondence activity in Upflow
  • Resolve invoice queries and disputes with Customer Success, Billing and Sales to unblock payment, within SLAs
  • Negotiate payment and maintain accurate records of contact, promises to pay and account status
  • Escalate payment plans, credit-risk concerns and high-risk accounts to the line manager
  • Carry out customer account reconciliations, matching receipts, invoices and credit notes
  • Reallocate unapplied cash, debits and credits to the correct invoices, customers and entities
  • Clear unreconciled items and receivables-related suspense balances
  • Assist in cleansing customer master data and support validation of opening AR balances for migration
  • Flag process gaps and data issues so they are fixed at source, not carried forward
  • Provide regular updates on collections, aged-debt movement, cleared items and outstanding issues

What Success Looks Like

  • Week 1: Up and running in Xero and Upflow; priority accounts and aged-debt exposure identified with line manager
  • Weeks 2–6: Collections underway on the oldest balances; reconciliations and reallocations progressing entity by entity; credit balances reduced
  • Weeks 7–10+: All allocated accounts resolved, opening AR balances validated, and handover notes completed

Requirements

  • 3+ years credit control experience, including proactive telephone and email collections, dispute resolution, dunning workflows and escalation of high-risk accounts
  • 2+ years recent, hands-on Xero experience, including allocations, credit notes, customer reconciliations and AR reporting
  • Extensive account and bank reconciliation experience, using Excel, Xero and other tools to match receipts to invoices, investigate variances and clear unapplied cash
  • Experience managing multi-currency AR ledgers across multiple entities
  • Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills, including lookups, pivots and reconciliations
  • Confident chasing customers by phone and email, firmly and professionally
  • High attention to detail and a methodical approach to cleaning up historic data
  • Able to start immediately and work independently with minimal supervision
