Home Care Virtual Assistant - Remote Philippines Job — Columbus
Traveler-Friendly Insight
This role is remote but not location-flexible in a practical sense. The required hours are 8:00 AM–5:00 PM EST (Monday–Friday), which translates to 9:00 PM–6:00 AM Philippine time. For nomads in Southeast Asia, this is a graveyard shift — workable from a fixed base but very challenging while traveling across multiple time zones.
Timezone reality check for popular nomad hubs:
- Medellín, Colombia (COT, UTC-5): Closest overlap with EST — nearly perfect alignment, but the role explicitly prefers Philippines-based candidates.
- Lisbon, Portugal (WET/WEST, UTC+0/+1): Would mean working 1:00 PM–10:00 PM local — feasible, but candidate location requirements make this unlikely to be approved.
- Bangkok, Thailand (ICT, UTC+7): 8:00 PM–5:00 AM shift — very disruptive for a sustainable nomad lifestyle.
At $5–$6/hour (~$800–$960/month for 40 hrs/week), this covers cost of living in mid-tier Philippine cities like Davao or Cebu, but provides little buffer for travel or coworking expenses. There are no travel-related perks such as equipment stipends or coworking allowances. A quiet, dedicated workspace and stable 25 Mbps internet are mandatory — key factors to verify at any coliving or coworking space.
This role suits someone based stably in the Philippines rather than a traveling nomad.
