Traveler-Friendly Insight

Remote-First Since 2012: Fleetio has been remote-friendly for over a decade, which means async communication patterns and distributed-team tooling are deeply embedded in their culture — a strong signal for digital nomads who value flexibility over mandatory Zoom standups.

Timezone Constraints: The role is open to the US, Canada, and Mexico, suggesting the team likely operates within North American business hours (roughly UTC-8 to UTC-5). Nomads based in Europe or Southeast Asia may face awkward overlap windows, though the async-positive culture could ease this somewhat. Confirm core hours during the interview.

Visa Considerations: Since employment is restricted to the US, Canada, and Mexico, you must have legal working rights in one of these countries. Popular options include:

  • Mexico: Residente Temporal with work permit, or remote workers can legally reside while employed by a foreign entity — very nomad-friendly.
  • Canada: Open work permits for certain visa holders; also home to strong tech hubs.
  • US: Must have existing work authorization (W-2 employment context assumed).

Nomad-Friendly Perks: The $125 quarterly business expense stipend and new hire equipment stipend help offset remote setup costs. The $150 quarterly wellbeing fund can cover coworking day passes. No dedicated coworking allowance, but the stipends provide flexibility.

Cost of Living Note: No salary is listed, but mid-level SWE roles at well-funded SaaS companies (post-$450M Series D) typically range $120K–$160K USD. That goes very far in Mexico City or Medellín, moderately in Lisbon, and is roughly market in Canadian cities like Toronto.

A little about us… Fleetio is a modern software platform that helps thousands of organizations worldwide manage their fleet operations. Transportation technology is a hot market, and we're leading the charge with raving fans and new customers signing up every day. We raised $450M in our Series D funding round in March of 2025 and are on an exciting trajectory as a company. Fleetio is also a proud founding member of the Rails Foundation!
