Traveler-Friendly Insight

Remote-First Since 2012: Fleetio has been remote-friendly for over a decade, which typically signals a mature async culture with documented processes and minimal micromanagement — a strong positive for location-independent workers.

Timezone Constraints: The role is open to the US, Canada, and Mexico, implying an overlap expectation with North American business hours (primarily US Central/Eastern). If you're nomading outside these timezones — say, Southeast Asia or Europe — you may face friction with synchronous standups or cross-functional collaboration. The written communication emphasis is a mild async signal, but this is not a fully timezone-agnostic role.

Visa Considerations:

  • Mexico: Mexico's Temporary Resident Visa ("residente temporal") or simply working on a tourist permit (up to 180 days) are popular options. Medellín-like cost structures apply in cities like Oaxaca or Mexico City.
  • Canada: Canadian citizens/PRs are directly eligible. US citizens can use the TN visa under USMCA for software engineers.
  • US: Standard W-2 employment; no visa concerns for US citizens/green card holders.

Nomad-Friendly Perks: The $125 quarterly business expense stipend and Mac laptop + equipment stipend are practical for remote setups. The $150 quarterly wellbeing fund could offset coworking costs. No explicit coworking allowance is mentioned, however.

No salary is posted, but Series D SaaS senior engineers in the US typically earn $160K–$210K annually — strong purchasing power in Medellín or Mexico City where cost of living runs 50–70% lower than US metros.
