Traveler-Friendly Insight

Remote Viability: This role explicitly values experience in "international, remote, or distributed-team settings," which is a strong green flag. However, the core responsibility of "driving alignment across time zones" means you'll need reliable overlap with European and potentially US business hours — limiting full location flexibility. Expect GMT ± 2–3 hours to be the practical timezone window, ruling out Southeast Asia or the Americas as full-time bases.

Async vs. Sync Culture: Deal Desk roles are inherently reactive to live deal cycles, so pure async work is unlikely. Expect regular real-time calls with Sales leadership during deal sprints, especially at quarter-end. This is a moderate-sync role — workable from within Europe but demanding if you're east of Istanbul.

Visa Considerations: The role is based in the UK. As a UK-based position, candidates should have the right to work in the UK. EU/EEA nationals may need a Skilled Worker visa post-Brexit. There is no explicit mention of visa sponsorship.

Nomad-Friendly Destinations (GMT ± 2):

  • Lisbon, Portugal: GMT+1, excellent infrastructure, NHR tax regime (though changing), costs ~€2,000–2,500/month comfortably.
  • Tbilisi, Georgia: GMT+4 (stretching the window), very low cost (~€1,000–1,500/month), 1-year nomad visa available.
  • Barcelona, Spain: GMT+1, vibrant tech scene, ~€2,500–3,000/month, Digital Nomad Visa available for non-EU nationals.

No travel perks or coworking stipends are mentioned in the posting — worth clarifying at interview stage.

Amplitude is building the operating system for digital product innovation—and our Deal Desk team sits right at the centre of how we monetise that vision. This team partners deeply with Sales, Finance, Legal, and Revenue Accounting to structure smart, scalable deals that accelerate growth without introducing risk.

As a Senior Deal Desk Manager, you'll act as player/coach with a view to progress into a people manager role to lead our International Deal Desk team. You will act as the senior strategic advisor on our most complex international deals and operate with real autonomy — given clear guardrails, but trusted to make the call. You'll help shape deal strategy, guide pricing and contract decisions, and bring clarity to ambiguity—all while keeping the business moving fast.

As a Senior Deal Desk Manager, you will:

  • Support Amplitude's International Deal Desk team — supporting with hiring, coaching, and setting the bar for how the team partners with Sales, Finance, and Legal
  • Own deal strategy for complex, high-risk international deals, advising Sales leadership on pricing, packaging, contract terms, and negotiation strategy — including setting precedent where policy doesn't yet exist
  • Review and approve complex non-standard transactions end-to-end, ensuring approvals align with revenue recognition, legal, and operational policy
  • Act as the connective tissue across Sales, Legal, Finance, RevOps, and Accounting, resolving disagreements and driving alignment across time zones
  • Scale the Quote to Order process — codifying best practices and driving adoption of AI tools and automation across the team

You'll be a great addition to the team if:

  • You're genuinely comfortable operating in ambiguity as the senior decision-maker on the ground.
  • You thrive in a fast-paced environment with high-stakes deals that require creative thinking and sound judgment.
  • You build trust with Sales by being a valued partner—creative, collaborative, and solution-oriented—while still holding the line when it matters.
  • You're energised by cross-functional collaboration and know how to drive alignment across strong personalities and competing priorities.
  • You have sharp judgment on risk and detail, balanced with knowing when a rule should flex and when it shouldn't.
  • You're a clear, thoughtful communicator with strong critical thinking skills and a constant drive to improve systems, processes, and how teams work together.

At a minimum, you need to have:

  • Significant experience in Deal Desk, Sales Operations, or a similar deal strategy role in a SaaS or subscription-based business, including complex, enterprise-scale transactions
  • A track record of operating autonomously and making independent decisions, ideally in an international, remote, or distributed-team setting removed from the core of a leadership team
  • Experience designing or evolving deal desk policy, pricing frameworks, or approval processes — not just operating within them
  • Experience partnering with Legal and Finance on non-standard terms and approvals
  • Proficiency with Salesforce (CPQ experience strongly preferred) and comfort working with data and complex deal scenarios
  • Familiarity with channel selling model and transacting through cloud marketplaces
