SC7 - 3.5mm TRS to TRRS Microphone Patch Cable - Open Box
The SC7 is a high-quality shielded patch cable, designed to allow the RODE VideoMicro or other microphones to connect to TRRS compatible devices such as the iPhone or Galaxy or Pixel. The gold-plated contacts are colour coded, with grey indicating the TRRS output. The cable is colour matched to the red TRS to TRS cable that is supplied with the VideoMicro, and is easily fitted by inserting the TRS (black) jack into the rear of the microphone and the TRRS end (grey) into the smartphone or tablet.

Our Review
RØDE SC7 TRS to TRRS Patch Cable — The Missing Link for Smartphone Audio
The gist: A coiled, gold-plated adapter cable that lets you plug a professional TRS microphone directly into a TRRS smartphone headphone jack — the simplest way to upgrade travel video audio without a separate recorder.
- TRS to TRRS conversion: Bridges the gap between professional microphones (RØDE VideoMicro, Sennheiser, and others) and smartphones that require a TRRS input — compatible with iOS and Android.
- Coiled design, 170–400mm range: Extends as needed without tangling; right-angled connectors on both ends keep the cable tidy against a phone or camera body.
- Gold-plated contacts: Reduces oxidation and interference-induced noise over extended use — more reliable than generic 3.5mm adapters in humid travel conditions.
- Color-coded plug ID: Black = TRS mic end, grey = TRRS phone end; avoids misplug errors when shooting in fast-moving or low-light conditions.
B&H Photo and Adorama both list the SC7 as the standard companion cable for the RØDE VideoMicro and compatible wireless receivers for smartphone-based video production.
Best for: Travel creators who use a professional clip-on or shotgun mic but want to record directly into a smartphone. Skip it if: your phone lacks a 3.5mm headphone jack — this is a 3.5mm cable, not USB-C or Lightning. Runs around $9 (Open Box) — check the current price before buying.
