Traveler-Friendly Insight

This Brand Designer role at Thatch is listed as "Anywhere in the World", making it one of the more location-flexible positions you'll find in the design space. However, a few practical considerations apply before packing your bags.

Timezone awareness: Thatch is a US-headquartered startup. While no explicit timezone requirement is stated, collaborating with Marketing, Product, and Design teams likely means overlap with US business hours (EST/PST). Nomads based in Europe (Lisbon, Barcelona) may need to shift their schedule to late afternoons/evenings, while those in Southeast Asia (Bangkok, Bali) would face a more significant overlap challenge — plan for early mornings or late nights for live syncs.

Cost-of-living context: No salary is disclosed, but a mid-level Brand Designer in the US typically earns $90,000–$130,000/year. At that range:

  • Lisbon, Portugal: Comfortable lifestyle on ~$3,000–$3,500/month; Portugal's Digital Nomad Visa (D8) is a strong option for non-EU citizens.
  • Bangkok, Thailand: High quality of life on ~$1,800–$2,500/month; Thailand's LTR Visa suits remote workers earning $80k+/year.
  • Medellín, Colombia: Excellent value at ~$1,500–$2,200/month; Colombia's digital nomad visa allows 2-year stays.

The role involves Figma and Adobe Creative Suite — both cloud-based and travel-friendly. No mention of coworking stipends or equipment budgets, so clarify these perks during interviews.

For most people, health insurance happens to them: a plan chosen by someone else, with little room to fit their life. Thatch is changing that. We help companies give employees a healthcare budget instead of a one-size-fits-all plan, so people can choose the coverage and care that works for them while employers get predictable costs.

It's a simple idea, but making it real means solving hard problems across healthcare, payments, and technology. We're just getting started. We look for people who use good judgment, take ownership, and care deeply about building something that matters.

Design is central to what makes Thatch stand out. We're building a brand that sets a new standard for healthcare. We're a small, collaborative team with high standards for craft, bold creative thinking, and a shared ambition to make something complex feel remarkably simple.

We're looking for a Brand Designer to help shape Thatch's next chapter. We've built a product people love, and now we're ready to bring that same ambition to our visual identity. You'll develop creative concepts and bring them to life across web, campaigns, events, print, and more, helping define how people see and experience Thatch.

What You'll Do

  • Shape and evolve Thatch's visual identity, building a distinctive, cohesive brand across every touchpoint.
  • Develop and execute creative concepts across our website, campaigns, digital content, events, print, and more.
  • Own design projects end to end, from early exploration and creative direction through production and launch.
  • Partner with Marketing, Product, and Design to translate business goals and complex ideas into compelling creative work.
  • Present and advocate for your ideas, incorporating feedback while maintaining a high bar for craft and consistency.
  • Collaborate with external creative partners when needed, bringing fresh ideas and approaches to how we tell our story.

What We Are Looking For

  • 3–5 years of experience in brand, visual, or marketing design, ideally at a startup or high-growth company.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional craft across typography, layout, color, and visual storytelling.
  • Experience translating a brand identity into cohesive, high-quality work across digital and physical touchpoints.
  • Proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Ability to move quickly, iterate thoughtfully, and deliver polished work.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain design decisions and collaborate across teams.
  • Comfort with ambiguity, a sense of ownership, and the judgment to know when to challenge the brief.

Experience We'd Be Particularly Excited About

  • Motion design, animation, or video experience.
  • Ability to build and ship web experiences using HTML/CSS, Framer, or similar tools.
  • Experience using AI tools to explore ideas and improve creative workflows.
  • Experience helping a growing company evolve its brand.

What to Expect

We aim to keep our interview process thoughtful, rigorous, and efficient. Most candidates complete it within three weeks.

  • A 30-minute conversation with a recruiter.
  • A 30-minute conversation with the hiring manager.
  • A portfolio review focused on your creative process, visual craft, and brand thinking.
  • Functional interviews focused on creative collaboration, communication, and working style.
  • A final conversation with a member of our executive team.
