Traveler-Friendly Insight

This role is listed as 100% remote within the USA, but there is a critical constraint for digital nomads: you must be a US Citizen and obtain a Confidential-level US security clearance before starting. This effectively limits the role to US citizens residing (at least on paper) in the United States.

Location flexibility is real but geographically bounded. While no specific US state is required, the clearance requirement means international travel or extended stays abroad could complicate your clearance status. Living abroad—even temporarily—can raise adjudicative concerns for clearance holders. This is not a role suited for a "travel anywhere" nomadic lifestyle.

Timezone constraints are not explicitly stated, but supporting USINDOPACOM (Indo-Pacific Command) stakeholders may imply some need for overlap with Pacific Standard or Eastern business hours. The job does not advertise async-friendly hours.

Salary context: The $47,900–$79,200 range is a US-market rate. While it would go very far in cities like Medellín or Bangkok, residing abroad as a clearance holder is generally not advisable or permissible without prior approval.

  • Best-fit nomad profile: US-based remote workers who travel domestically, or those with a US home base who take short personal trips.
  • Not recommended for: long-term international travelers or those seeking geo-independent work.

If you want true location independence without clearance restrictions, look for remote finance or budget analyst roles in the private sector instead.
