Traveler-Friendly Insight

This role is not suitable for digital nomads or location-independent remote workers. The job posting is explicit: candidates must reside in Missouri, USA, hold an active DEA license (a U.S. federal Drug Enforcement Administration registration tied to a practice address) and a HAP (Health Advocacy Program credential). These licensing requirements legally bind the physician to a specific U.S. state.

Unlike software or operations roles that can be performed from anywhere with a laptop, this physician position involves patient care oversight, care plan management, and collaboration with healthcare advocates — activities that are subject to state medical licensing boards and interstate compact regulations. Even telehealth-oriented physician roles typically require licensure in the patient's state of residence.

What to look for instead: If you are a travel-minded healthcare professional, consider exploring:

  • Locum tenens physician contracts, which offer short-term placements across different U.S. states
  • Fully remote telehealth roles with multi-state licensure (Interstate Medical Licensure Compact)
  • Global health or international medicine positions with NGOs or travel medicine clinics

This particular role does not offer the geographic flexibility that defines a nomadic or remote lifestyle.

About the Role

Healthcare is broken. If you've worked in healthcare for any period of time, you know this. Solace connects people to healthcare advocates who solve the problems they face in accessing care, and the physician plays an important role in this.

As a Solace Physician, you will build strong relationships and facilitate an unparalleled advocacy experience for our patients. In this role, you will collaborate with healthcare advocates to help our patients achieve their health goals to foster exceptional outcomes. By contributing to the development of a new patient care program, you will ensure that Solace is well-equipped to optimally serve a vulnerable population.

What You'll Do

  • Learn the Solace systems, tools, technology, partners, and expectations, while also providing your unique clinical expertise in every interaction.
  • Identify and prioritize patients' needs and maintain a streamlined care continuum.
  • Oversee patient care plans in partnership with healthcare advocates to holistically address social determinants of health, including food resources, transportation access, and support at home.

What You Bring to the Table

  • Board certification in family medicine, internal medicine, or other relevant specialty.
  • Strong clinical skills paired with excellent organizational skills — able to balance multiple tasks and work under pressure without sacrificing organization in communications and documentation.
  • Superior communication skills; listening and empathy are the foundation for every patient interaction at Solace.
  • Comfort working with elderly patients as well as individuals navigating Social Determinants of Health.
  • Technical savvy — ability to quickly and fluently learn new systems and software.
  • Extreme bias toward action and execution; willingness to share feedback to forge better patient outcomes.
  • Embrace change and iteration; comfort with rapid changes to business strategy, organization, and priorities.
