Telehealth Doctor at Alternaleaf - Remote WA Role — Columbus
Traveler-Friendly Insight
This role is fully remote and work-from-home, but it carries a critical geographic constraint: you must be based in Western Australia and hold unrestricted AHPRA registration. This is not a location-independent position in the traditional digital nomad sense — Australian medical licensing regulations tie you firmly to Australia, and specifically to WA prescribing laws for Schedule 8 medications.
The required availability window of 3pm–9pm AWST (UTC+8) means you cannot practically perform this role from most other time zones without working unusual hours. Neighboring AWST-compatible locations (e.g., Bali, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur) might technically align on time zone, but AHPRA registration and WA-specific prescribing regulations legally require you to be resident and licensed in Australia.
For digital nomads who are also licensed Australian doctors, this role does offer some lifestyle flexibility:
- Work-from-home setup with a laptop provided — no clinic commute.
- Shift-based evening work leaves mornings and early afternoons free.
- Contract-based engagement gives scheduling autonomy outside booked shifts.
At $60/consult with 4–6 consults/hour, you can earn $240–$360/hour — potentially high enough to fund significant travel between shifts. However, the AHPRA and WA residency requirements make this role unsuitable for anyone wishing to work while traveling internationally.

The role:
- Deliver high quality consults across a broad range of presentations and age groups.
- Doctors must be familiar with prescribing regulations in Western Australia and confident managing Schedule 8 medications within a telehealth environment.

- Work closely with nurses and doctor support teams to streamline care.
- Maintain complete documentation and compliance in a digital-first environment.
- Embrace digital tools to optimise patient outcomes and service efficiency.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to patient care and continuity of care.

We're looking for reliable doctors who excel in fast-paced, digital-first settings and are motivated to make a meaningful impact in an evolving clinical landscape. The consult rate is $60 per consult, with an expected 4 to 6 consults each hour, and additional incentives available for increased availability.
You bring:
- Unrestricted AHPRA registration.
- Strong understanding of prescribing regulations in Western Australia and confidence managing Schedule 8 medications.
- Excellent time management with the ability to confidently manage 10-minute consults (4–6 patients/hour).
- Familiarity with privacy laws, RTPM, S8 regulation, and medico-legal obligations.
- Strong clinical judgement, with an evidence-based and harm-reduction mindset.
- Strong documentation and administrative skills.
- Experience working across multiple digital platforms and navigating technology efficiently.
- Punctual, reliable, and responsive — you value team collaboration and continuity of patient care.
