Remote AEC Customer Success Role at Autodesk EMEA — Columbus
Traveler-Friendly Insight
Remote-First with On-Site Travel Requirements
This role is officially remote, which is a positive signal for location-flexible professionals. However, there is an explicit requirement to visit customers on-site across EMEA, meaning you cannot be fully location-independent. You will need to be based in a country where you can travel conveniently to major AECO clients — likely in Central or Western Europe.
Timezone Constraints
EMEA coverage strongly implies standard European business hours (CET/CEST, roughly UTC+1/+2). Async flexibility may exist for documentation and internal work, but customer-facing sessions will be scheduled during client business hours. This limits nomad destinations to those in compatible timezones (Europe, East Africa, Middle East).
Viable Nomad Base Options
- Lisbon, Portugal: WET (UTC+0/+1) — excellent overlap with EMEA clients. Monthly cost of living ~€1,800–€2,500. Portugal's Digital Nomad Visa (D8) is available for non-EU citizens.
- Berlin, Germany: CET — perfect timezone alignment. Higher cost (~€2,500–€3,500/month) but ideal for client visits.
- Dubai, UAE: GST (UTC+4) — manageable overlap with European morning hours. Tax-free income; UAE remote work visa available.
Key Consideration: Frequent client visits across EMEA make a hub-and-spoke travel strategy most practical — base yourself near a major European airport (e.g., Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Madrid) for efficient travel to client sites.
