Traveler-Friendly Insight

Remote-Friendly but Geography-Locked: This role is explicitly remote within Canada and the USA only. If you hold Canadian or US citizenship/permanent residency and like to move between cities domestically, this is a solid location-flexible option — but international nomads outside North America are not eligible.

Schedule & Timezone Constraints: The role involves an on-call rotation for production systems and cross-functional collaboration, which suggests overlapping business hours are expected. Expect to align with North American timezones (ET/PT). Full async work is unlikely given the team-facing and on-call requirements.

Nomad Perks Worth Noting:

  • Home IT stipend: Up to $1,500 USD toward your home setup — useful for outfitting a remote workspace anywhere you move within Canada/US.
  • Internet/phone allowance: Up to $50 USD/month helps offset connectivity costs when working from co-working spaces or new cities.
  • Unlimited PTO gives flexibility for extended domestic travel between assignments.

Cost of Living Context: Without a published salary, it's hard to benchmark precisely, but Senior SWE II roles at VC-backed startups in Canada typically pay CAD $140,000–$180,000. This stretches well in cities like Halifax or Winnipeg, and comfortably covers life in Vancouver or Toronto. Cross-border workers in the US should note the role is open to US residents too, where equivalent roles pay USD $160,000–$200,000+.

If you're a North American resident who wants to explore cities while keeping a stable remote role in fintech/entertainment tech, this is a strong fit — just don't expect to work from Lisbon or Bali.

The Opportunity – Senior Software Engineer II (Remote - Canada)

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer II for the Integrations team. This role will play a significant role in our mission to build an outstanding data-first company that seamlessly integrates with a variety of ERP and Accounting systems, as well as AI-enabled agents.

As a Senior Software Engineer II, you will leverage your experience in building integrations, APIs, MCP servers and data exchange systems to design, build, and operate the connective tissue between Wrapbook and the accounting, ERP, data, and AI ecosystems our customers rely on.

This is an opportunity to bring deep data architecture expertise to a team that's scaling its integrations surface — you'll own pipelines and data contracts with the same rigor you'd apply to a core data platform, while staying close to the day-to-day of shipping product. You'll have high ownership over technical decisions, partner closely with Product and cross-functional teams to shape the integrations roadmap, and balance immediate customer needs with building durable, scalable architecture for the long term.

What You'll Do

  • Design and build integrations, APIs, and data exchange systems that connect Wrapbook to accounting, ERP, and other third-party and AI-enabled systems
  • Own integration pipelines and SLAs end-to-end, ensuring data moves reliably between systems with clear expectations and well-defined metrics
  • Define and manage data contracts that prevent upstream changes from breaking downstream integrations and analytics
  • Pitch in at a code level, whether it's code reviews, executing tickets to keep the team on track, or taking ownership of critical customer data issues
  • Work with cross-functional partners in product, design, research, business development, and go-to-market teams to build secure, compliant, and seamless integration experiences for companies and workers
  • Be a technical influencer across the company, advocating for engineering-specific roadmap items and integrations best practices
  • Provide technical direction through design reviews and pair programming
  • Stand up observability across integrations so the team can understand system health and troubleshoot quickly
  • Advocate for quick iterative development accompanied by experimentation analysis
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to support production integration systems

What You'll Have

  • Deep technical expertise in building integrations, APIs, and data exchange systems; accounting integrations or systems experience a plus
  • Experience designing and developing data-centric systems, including ETL/ELT pipelines and data architecture; data architecture experience a plus
  • Familiarity with a variety of data lakes, BI systems, and iPaaS platforms a plus
  • Strong coding fluency and hands-on experience with modern data/integration tooling (e.g., Dagster, Airbyte, Airflow, dbt, or similar) as well as Python and Rails
  • Experience with accounting systems and basic accounting principles a plus
  • High ownership mentality — self-directed and solution-oriented, comfortable with ambiguity, and able to drive execution with minimal oversight
  • Systems and architectural thinking — proven ability to design scalable, elegant architecture that balances performance, cost, and governance
  • A collaborative mindset — experience partnering across product, data, compliance, and security to align architecture with business goals
  • An AI-centric workflow — comfort using AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude Code) and building AI-enabled agents and MCP servers as part of your engineering toolkit
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills that allow you to effectively influence an organization
  • Experience working with Scrum or Agile teams
