SLB Operator Role - Offshore Oil & Gas Trinidad — Columbus
Traveler-Friendly Insight
This role is an on-site, field-based position requiring physical presence on offshore rigs and active well testing sites in the San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago area. It is not suitable for digital nomads or remote workers — the work involves hands-on operation of heavy equipment such as separators, choke manifolds, and flow lines in high-pressure environments.
Location & Visa Considerations: The role explicitly requires the candidate to be a CARICOM national and hold (or be eligible for) a valid CSME (Caribbean Single Market and Economy) certificate, which permits free movement of skilled workers within CARICOM member states. This significantly restricts eligibility to nationals of member countries such as Trinidad & Tobago, Jamaica, Barbados, Guyana, and others.
Schedule & Lifestyle: Offshore and oilfield roles typically operate on rotational schedules (e.g., 28 days on / 28 days off), which can allow for extended travel during off-rotation periods. However, this is not confirmed in the posting. The fast-paced, high-pressure nature of the work means no schedule flexibility or async work is possible while on duty.
If you are a traveling professional in the oil and gas sector with CARICOM status, this role could provide well-compensated rotational work with meaningful downtime for travel between rotations. It is not recommended for those seeking location independence.
