Traveler-Friendly Insight

Instructure explicitly offers a flexible work culture with remote, hybrid, and in-office options that "vary by role, team, and location." For a Principal-level Business Operations Manager, remote arrangements are plausible but not guaranteed — this is a cross-functional leadership role requiring regular executive presentations and team mentorship, which may favor synchronous availability during US business hours (likely EST–PST windows).

Timezone considerations: Since the role is US-based and involves close collaboration with senior leadership across Sales, Finance, Engineering, and Product, expect core overlap hours of roughly 9am–5pm in a US timezone. Nomads in Lisbon (UTC+1) would face a significant afternoon-to-night shift (3–11pm local), which is workable but demanding. Medellín (UTC-5) aligns almost perfectly with US Eastern Time, making it an attractive base. Bangkok (UTC+7) would require very early mornings and is generally impractical for this type of stakeholder-heavy role.

  • Visa note: The role is restricted to the USA. US citizens or those with existing US work authorization would qualify; international nomads would not be eligible unless they hold a valid US work visa.
  • Perks relevant to nomads: Technology/tools stipend is mentioned, and the employee ownership program adds long-term financial upside. No explicit coworking or travel budget is listed.

Bottom line: this role has some remote flexibility but is US-based and stakeholder-intensive — better suited for US-based remote workers than international nomads.
