Remote Math Tutor (AMC 8/10) - Work Anywhere PT — Columbus
Traveler-Friendly Insight
This role is highly compatible with a nomadic lifestyle. As a part-time, fully remote position capped at under 20 hours per week, it generates supplemental income with minimal overhead — no office, no commute, just a stable internet connection and a quiet space to teach.
Timezone considerations are the main constraint. Students are based in North America, and sessions are expected during weekday evenings and weekends in North American timezones (primarily US ET/PT). If you're based in Europe (e.g., Lisbon, UTC+1), evening US ET sessions fall around midnight–2am local time — workable for night owls but not ideal. From Southeast Asia (e.g., Bangkok, UTC+7), US evening sessions push into early morning, making regular scheduling difficult.
Best nomad bases for this role:
- Medellín, Colombia (UTC-5): Closely aligned with US Eastern time. Low cost of living (~$1,200–1,800/mo) and $20–25/hr USD goes a long way for part-time income supplementing other remote work.
- Mexico City (UTC-6): Excellent time alignment with US Central/Eastern. Affordable at ~$1,500–2,000/mo.
- Lisbon, Portugal (UTC+1/+2): US evening sessions would be late-night; feasible only for flexible sleepers.
At 15–20 hrs/week, this role earns roughly $1,200–$2,000/month — solid supplemental income in LATAM hubs, but likely not standalone income for most nomads. Pair it with other remote work for a full income stack.
Job Type: Part-Time (less than 20 hrs/week)
