Technical Support Manager at Cribl - Remote USA — Columbus
Traveler-Friendly Insight
Remote-First, But With On-Call Caveats
Cribl is explicitly remote-first, which is a genuine green flag for location-independent workers. However, this Technical Support Manager role includes stand-by, on-call, and off-hours duties — a critical detail for nomads. You'll need reliable, fast internet at all times and must be reachable during escalations, which constrains how freely you can travel across time zones.
Timezone Considerations
The role is US-only based on the USD salary structure and location hint. While no explicit timezone is stated, managing a customer-facing support team for enterprise clients (including Fortune 100 companies) strongly implies you'll need overlap with US business hours — likely ET/CT/PT. Significant timezone deviation (e.g., Southeast Asia) would create real scheduling challenges given the on-call requirement.
Salary vs. Nomad Cost of Living
- Lisbon, Portugal: ~$2,500–$3,500/month comfortable living. At $116K–$181K, this salary offers exceptional purchasing power — but EU digital nomad visas require non-EU employment income.
- Medellín, Colombia: ~$1,500–$2,500/month. Very high relative purchasing power; Colombia's digital nomad visa suits US remote workers.
- Bangkok, Thailand: ~$1,500–$2,000/month. Strong value, but on-call duties and a 12-hour time difference from ET make this a challenging base.
Best nomad strategy: base yourself in a US-proximate timezone (LATAM, Caribbean) to honor on-call obligations while benefiting from a strong salary-to-cost-of-living ratio.
