Traveler-Friendly Insight

This role is highly async-friendly — CloudFactory explicitly states you work "on your own schedule" with only occasional training and calibration sessions required. For digital nomads, this is a significant advantage: there are no fixed daily hours, making it easy to fit around travel, time zones, or other freelance work.

Timezone flexibility: The job is open to Kenya (EAT, UTC+3), Nepal (NPT, UTC+5:45), and the Philippines (PHT, UTC+8). Scheduled sessions will likely be anchored to one of these zones, so nomads should confirm session timing before committing — but day-to-day work has no fixed hours.

Location restriction is a key consideration: This contract is explicitly limited to Kenya, Nepal, and the Philippines. Digital nomads based outside these three countries are not eligible. Those residing in these countries may benefit from digital nomad or remote work arrangements, but no cross-border movement is implied by the contract itself.

Cost-of-living context (no salary disclosed): Even without a stated rate, contracting income in Nairobi, Kathmandu, or Manila stretches meaningfully further than in Western cities. These are established nomad hubs with reliable co-working spaces and fast internet.

  • Equipment note: You must supply your own high-resolution monitor, stylus/mouse, and fast internet — no equipment stipend is mentioned.
  • Duration: 7-month project starting November 2026 — a solid medium-term engagement for structured nomad planning.

About the Role

We're looking for Sonographers, Ultrasound Technologists, and other medical imaging professionals with hands-on ultrasound experience to support an AI-powered medical imaging project.

As an Ultrasound Image Annotator, you will review ultrasound video frames and accurately identify and label anatomical structures and acoustic shadows. Your work will contribute to the development of high-quality datasets used to train and improve AI-powered medical imaging technologies.

This role is ideal for professionals who have experience interpreting ultrasound images, enjoy detail-oriented work, and can consistently follow precise guidelines.

Previous data annotation experience is not required. Training on the annotation tool and project-specific guidelines will be provided.

What You'll Do

  • Review ultrasound video frames to identify anatomical structures, tissue boundaries, and acoustic shadows.
  • Accurately outline and label structures using specialized annotation software and detailed guidelines.
  • Compare images across video frames and reference materials to ensure accurate and consistent labeling.
  • Identify and flag unclear or low-quality images rather than making assumptions.
  • Maintain high standards of accuracy, consistency, and productivity, incorporating feedback to continuously improve.
  • Participate in training, calibration sessions, and occasional team discussions.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience working with and interpreting ultrasound images, ideally as a Sonographer, Ultrasound Technologist, or related medical imaging professional.
  • Working knowledge of anatomy, particularly bone, organ, and skeletal structures, including how these appear on ultrasound.
  • Understanding of ultrasound image characteristics, including brightness, depth, tissue boundaries, and acoustic shadowing.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow precise written instructions consistently.
  • Comfort using computers and learning new software, including tools requiring accurate mouse or stylus control.
  • Professional proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and participate in scheduled training and calibration sessions.

Nice to Have

  • Certification or formal training in sonography, radiography, or a related medical imaging field.
  • Experience in musculoskeletal, spine, organ, or pain management ultrasound imaging.
  • Previous experience in medical image annotation, data labeling, or image quality review.
  • Experience working with detailed imaging protocols, reference images, or standardized guidelines.

Engagement Details

  • Type: Independent Contractor
  • Location: Remote — Kenya, Nepal, Philippines
  • Working Arrangement: Work remotely on your own schedule, with availability for occasional training, calibration, and coordination sessions.
  • Time Commitment: Flexible, based on your availability. Part-time engagement is welcome, including for professionals with existing clinical commitments.
  • Expected Project Duration: 7 months
  • Expected Start Date: November 10, 2026

Equipment Requirements: You will need a reliable computer with a large, high-resolution monitor, stable high-speed internet connection, a mouse or stylus suitable for precise annotation, and a private workspace where confidential medical images can be viewed securely.

All selected contractors will complete project-specific training and calibration before beginning production work. Work will be reviewed against established accuracy and quality standards, and continued participation will depend on consistently meeting these expectations.
