Senior Travel Agent at BCD Travel - Remote USA/LATAM — Columbus
Traveler-Friendly Insight
Is this role nomad-friendly? This is a fully remote position, which opens the door for location-independent living — but with an important caveat: BCD Travel explicitly states that scheduling flexibility is a core requirement and that schedules may change to accommodate operational needs. This means the role is likely tied to US business hours or client time zones, limiting true async freedom.
Timezone Considerations: Since the job is listed for the United States and clients are corporate travelers, expect to work during US Eastern or Central business hours. From LATAM cities like Bogotá (ET -1h) or Mexico City (ET -1h), overlap is very manageable. Working from Lisbon (ET +5h) or Bangkok (ET +11h) would be very challenging without explicit employer approval.
Visa Angles: If you're a US citizen or authorized to work in the US remotely, several LATAM countries offer digital nomad or long-stay visas — Colombia's Digital Nomad Visa, Mexico's Temporary Resident Visa, and Costa Rica's Rentista Visa — allowing you to base yourself abroad while working US hours.
Travel Perks: The role includes travel industry professional discounts — a genuine perk for a nomadic lifestyle, potentially unlocking cheaper flights and hotels.
- Bogotá: ~$1,200–$1,800/mo cost of living — very affordable on a US salary
- Mexico City: ~$1,500–$2,200/mo — great infrastructure and US time zone alignment
- Lisbon: ~$2,200–$3,000/mo — timezone mismatch makes this difficult
