Remote Sales Engineer LATAM at Zscaler — Columbus
Traveler-Friendly Insight
This Sales Engineer role at Zscaler is explicitly designated remote and scoped to the LATAM region, making it a strong candidate for location-independent professionals based anywhere in Latin America. However, there are important nuances for digital nomads to consider.
Timezone constraints: Because the role supports LATAM customers directly, expect the bulk of your working hours to fall within UTC-3 to UTC-8 (covering São Paulo through Mexico City). This limits true global nomadism — you'll need to be in the Americas or at least overlap meaningfully with LATAM business hours. Customer-facing calls and product evaluations require real-time availability, so fully async work is unlikely.
Visa considerations: Mexico (the hinted location) now offers a Temporary Resident Visa viable for remote workers earning foreign income. Colombia's Digital Nomad Visa allows stays up to 2 years. Argentina offers a Digital Nomad Visa with income requirements generally accessible at tech salaries. All three are popular nomad hubs with low cost of living relative to US tech compensation.
- Mexico City: Monthly costs ~$1,200–$1,800 USD; vibrant tech community, strong co-working scene
- Medellín, Colombia: Monthly costs ~$1,000–$1,500 USD; excellent infrastructure and growing nomad ecosystem
- Buenos Aires, Argentina: Monthly costs ~$900–$1,400 USD; rich culture, favorable exchange rates
No specific travel perks (coworking stipend, equipment budget) are explicitly mentioned, though education reimbursement could cover relevant certifications or tools.
