Our Review

Fujifilm XF 16mm F1.4 R WR — a weather-sealed wide-angle prime for street and landscape days

The gist: A 24mm-equivalent field of view is the sweet spot for cramped old-town streets and wide landscape shots, and this open-box copy adds weather sealing and an f/1.4 aperture for the low-light evenings that come with travel photography.

  • Fast aperture, real depth control: f/1.4 lets you isolate a subject against a busy street background or shoot handheld well after sunset without bumping ISO too high.
  • Weather-resistant build: an all-metal barrel with WR sealing that's held up fine in dust and light rain — genuinely useful for unpredictable travel weather, not just a marketing label.
  • Close focusing: a 15cm minimum focus distance lets you get shallow-depth-of-field close-ups of food, textures, or market goods, not just wide scenics.
  • One tradeoff to know: at 375g it's noticeably heavier than Fuji's other wide primes — worth factoring in if you're minimizing carry weight on a long trip.

Fstoppers reviewer Dylan Goldby praised its "solid metal construction" and said it "feels good in the hand," calling out excellent sharpness wide open and strong flare resistance, while noting mild autofocus hunting in low light and a front-heavy feel on lighter camera bodies.

Best for: travel photographers who want one fast, weather-sealed wide prime for street, architecture, and low-light shooting. Skip it if: you're packing ultralight — at 375g this is one of Fuji's heavier primes. Runs ~$660 for this open-box copy — check the current price before buying (non-returnable).
