Traveler-Friendly Insight

Timezone constraint is the key consideration here. This role strictly requires candidates located within CET ± 3 hours (UTC+0 to UTC+5), which covers most of Europe, Africa (West to East), the Middle East, and parts of Central Asia. If you're nomading outside this window — say, in Southeast Asia or the Americas — you are ineligible.

Within the allowed timezone band, popular nomad hubs that work well include:

  • Lisbon, Portugal (UTC+0/+1): Fits perfectly within the CET ± 3 range. Cost of living is moderate (~$1,800–$2,500/month for a comfortable lifestyle). Portugal also offers a Digital Nomad Visa (D8) for non-EU applicants.
  • Tbilisi, Georgia (UTC+4): On the edge of the allowed timezone range. Very low cost of living (~$1,000–$1,500/month), and Georgia offers a 365-day visa-free stay for many nationalities.
  • Chiang Mai or Bali fall outside the range — UTC+7/+8 is too far. Avoid unless you plan extreme early hours.

The role offers consistent 8-hour working days and up to 24 flex days off per year — solid for travel planning. Monthly payments with flexible withdrawal options also suit the nomad lifestyle. No equipment or coworking stipend is explicitly mentioned, so budget for those separately.

The Role

We are looking for a Senior Python Developer with deep expertise in Flask on behalf of one of our high-growth clients to design, maintain, and scale their web applications and backend systems. In this role, you will take ownership of modular Flask architectures, building lightweight, robust APIs and maintaining core business logic across production environments. You are a perfect candidate if you are growth-oriented, you love what you do, and you enjoy working on new ideas to develop exciting products.

What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years of hands-on production experience building, securing, and scaling web applications using Flask and modern Python (3.10+). Deep understanding of WSGI/ASGI servers (Gunicorn, uWSGI), Flask application factories, blueprints, and context managers.
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience building enterprise backend systems, design patterns, and RESTful web services.
  • Expert knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL), proficient in schema design, query optimization, and leveraging SQLAlchemy with Alembic for migrations. Redis experience for session management and caching.
  • Solid experience handling asynchronous tasks, background jobs, and scheduled processes using Celery alongside brokers like Redis or RabbitMQ.
  • Daily experience using Docker, container management, and integrating code into automated CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins).
  • Strong grounding in web security best practices (OWASP Top 10, JWT, OAuth2, CORS handling) and automated testing frameworks (pytest).
  • Located in the CET timezone (+/- 3 hours) — applications from candidates in other time zones cannot be considered.

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience decomposing Flask monoliths into modern asynchronous microservices (FastAPI/Go).
  • Experience with frontend integration (React, Vue, or Jinja2 templating for legacy apps).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and serverless infrastructure (AWS Lambda, Zappa).

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable REST APIs and backend architectures using Flask, ensuring clean separation of concerns and modular blueprints.
  • Audit and optimize database queries, request-response lifecycles, and caching policies to ensure low latency and continuous platform uptime.
  • Integrate third-party APIs, payment gateways, and internal microservices using secure webhooks and message queues.
  • Maintain high test coverage using pytest, perform code reviews, and implement strict security protocols for user authentication and authorization.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure teams to containerize applications, manage environment configurations, and streamline deployment workflows.

What We Offer

  • Get paid, not played: No more unreliable clients. Enjoy on-time monthly payments with flexible withdrawal options.
  • Predictable project hours: Enjoy a harmonious work-life balance with consistent 8-hour working days with clients.
  • Flex days to recharge: Up to 24 flex days off per year without losing pay, for full-time positions found through Proxify.
  • Career-accelerating positions: Discover exclusive long-term remote positions at the world's most exciting companies.
  • Hand-picked opportunities, just for you: Skip the typical recruitment roadblocks and biases with personally matched positions.
  • One seamless process, multiple opportunities: A one-time contracting process for endless opportunities, with no extra assessments.
  • Consistent compensation: Enjoy the same pay, every month with positions landed through Proxify.
