Traveler-Friendly Insight

100% remote and globally distributed — Grafana Labs operates with team members across 40+ countries, making this one of the more nomad-compatible roles available at a high-growth tech company. The job description emphasizes autonomy and outcomes over optics, which are strong signals of an async-friendly culture.

Timezone considerations: The role is posted for Spain (CET/CEST), and the compensation is Spain-specific. While no explicit timezone window is stated, collaboration with product managers and go-to-market teams across global offices likely requires some overlap with European and US business hours. Expect a loose sync window of roughly 2–4 hours per day. Pure APAC timezones (e.g., Bali, Bangkok) may create friction for regular team calls.

Visa angle: If you're based in Spain or an EU country, you're well-positioned to take this role without visa complications. For nomads outside the EU, Spain's Digital Nomad Visa (launched 2023) is a compelling option — it allows remote workers for non-Spanish companies to reside legally and offers a favorable flat tax rate of 24% for up to 5 years.

Cost of living vs. salary (EUR ~91K mid-point):

  • Lisbon, Portugal: Comfortable senior lifestyle; monthly costs ~€2,500–3,500. This salary offers strong savings potential.
  • Barcelona, Spain: As the listed country, housing runs €1,500–2,500/month. Highly liveable on this salary.
  • Bangkok, Thailand: ~€1,200–1,800/month all-in. Excellent financial cushion, but CET timezone overlap may be challenging.

No explicit coworking or equipment stipend is mentioned, but RSUs add meaningful long-term upside for location-independent professionals.

We're scaling fast and staying true to what makes us different: an open-source legacy, a global collaborative culture, and a passion for meaningful work. Our team thrives in an innovation-driven environment where transparency, autonomy, and trust fuel everything we do.

You may not meet every requirement, and that's okay. If this role excites you, we'd love you to raise your hand for what could be a truly career-defining opportunity.

The Opportunity:

We're looking for an enthusiastic, tech-forward product marketer to grow our Observability products by boldly positioning them and running campaigns to attract, convert and retain customers. As a Senior Product Marketing Manager, you will be in charge of the messaging and positioning for a broad product area. Then you'll work closely with product managers and the marketing team to deliver campaigns, content, events, and training that help buyers buy (and sellers sell) our value.

Product Marketing lives within the Product org rather than the Marketing org at Grafana Labs, and we think differently about the job. Rather than purely executing launches or campaigns, we want PMMs to teach product managers and engineers in our org how to think about growth and demand, and to codify product marketing knowledge into AI-forward tools and processes that anyone in the organization can use. For example, we all contribute product information to a shared knowledge base, which we use to generate enablement materials and decks.

Grafana Labs is a fast-paced and growing organization. As such, this role requires strategic skills, an interest in teaching, and hands-on tactical execution (blogs, webinar outlines, video scripts, etc). Our team is full of people who crave impact and independence — if you are seeking a role with narrow scope where you run a defined playbook, this is not the job for you.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Actively partner with and teach product managers to define product value, messaging, and go-to-market strategy, from competitive positioning to sales enablement collateral.
  • Partner with product management, engineering and various go-to-market functions to create materials that help customers evaluate and adopt our products: reference architectures, implementation guides, detailed product information and more.
  • Own customer lifecycle campaigns (competitive positioning, retention, upsell/cross-sell) to strategically shape marketing programs and drive growth across the entire customer journey.
  • Conduct market and customer research to understand pain points, competition and opportunities.
  • Teach go-to-market and sales teams our products' capabilities and the value they provide, deliver training and enablement, ensure customer-facing teams are able to effectively engage with customers, partners, and prospects.

What Makes You a Great Fit:

  • 4+ years of relevant experience (product marketing, solutions marketing, product management)
  • Experience with marketing and selling to a technical audience
  • A passion for open source, cloud native, and infrastructure technologies
  • Proven ability to take on complex projects and efficiently drive them from start to finish
  • Ability to clearly articulate the value of technical products to customers and sellers alike
  • Experience leading product or feature launches autonomously as well as part of a team
  • Experience working with AI tools like ChatGPT and Claude to automate messaging and workflows
  • Comfort working with a variety of internal and external stakeholders in complicated processes
  • Strong product and technical curiosity that translates to clear packaging, positioning, and messaging
  • Demonstrated quantitative analytical skills for analyzing campaign performance, evaluating lifecycle metrics, and making data-driven recommendations
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills
  • A high "say-do" ratio in executing and delivering impact
