Traveler-Friendly Insight

Remote-First, US-Only: Fieldguide explicitly positions itself as a remote-first company open to candidates anywhere in the United States. Bay Area candidates work hybrid, but fully remote US-based team members can work from wherever they choose domestically — strong foundation for location flexibility within the country.

Timezone Constraints: Although no specific hours are listed, the on-call requirement for 24/7 service availability is a meaningful constraint for nomads. On-call rotations typically demand that you maintain a stable, reliable internet connection and be reachable during incident windows — making slow-travel or frequent timezone hopping risky. Staying within US timezones (ET–PT) is advisable.

Nomad Lifestyle Fit: The role is US-restricted, which limits international nomad options. Digital nomad visas in Europe (Portugal, Spain, Georgia) or Southeast Asia would not be compatible without violating the geographic scope. US nomads can leverage the flexibility to work from co-living spaces in cities like Austin, Miami, or Asheville.

Travel-Relevant Perks:

  • Technology & Work from Home reimbursement — likely covers equipment and possibly co-working space costs.
  • Flexible work schedules — helpful for managing day-to-day location changes within the US.
  • Flexible PTO — allows for extended travel periods between on-call shifts.

Overall, this role suits US-based slow travelers or van-lifers with reliable connectivity, but is not suited for international nomads due to the US-only hiring scope and on-call obligations.
