Senior FP&A Analyst at Dscout - Remote USA Role — Columbus
Traveler-Friendly Insight
Dscout markets itself as a remote-first company, which is promising for location-independent workers — but there are important caveats. The job is listed with Austin, TX as the primary location, suggesting at least some preference for or expectation of physical presence. Remote work is broadly supported across most US states, but candidates in Montana, Hawaii, Alaska, and Washington DC are explicitly excluded.
Key limitation: this role is US-only. International nomads or those based outside the US are not eligible, as the posting references E-Verify participation, which applies to US employment. This rules out hiring across non-US countries or territories.
For US-based nomads, the role offers meaningful perks:
- Remote work stipend — useful for covering coworking memberships or home office upgrades while traveling domestically.
- Flexible PTO — allows scheduling around travel without rigid accrual limits.
- Reporting to the CFO implies regular scheduled meetings, likely during US Central Time business hours, limiting full async flexibility.
FP&A roles typically require real-time collaboration during budget cycles and board reporting periods, so expect structured availability especially around quarter-end. This is not a fully async role. Best suited for domestic US nomads who can maintain consistent Central or Eastern Time availability.
At Dscout, we're building the most flexible and powerful UX research platform on the market—trusted by the world's top brands in finance (JP Morgan Chase, Intuit, Charles Schwab, PayPal), healthcare (Aya, Headspace), consumer goods (Keen, Verizon, Target, Northface), and tech (Google, Amazon, Facebook, Meta, Spotify, AirBnB). Our tools help teams deeply understand the humans behind their products, so they can build better ones. We are expanding our smart and driven team and would love for you to join us.
Dscout is currently hiring for an experienced Senior FP&A Analyst based in Austin, TX. This individual will report to the CFO and senior leadership and will be responsible for utilizing both quantitative and qualitative analyses of all operational aspects of the company in order to evaluate the company's progress toward achieving its goals and to map out future goals and plans. This individual will play a critical role in considering economic and business trends, reviewing past company performance, and anticipating obstacles and potential issues, all with an eye toward forecasting the company's future financial results. This person will work cross-functionally with other departments in the execution of the role's duties.
What You Will Do at Dscout:
- Create, update, and maintain financial models and detailed forecasts of the company's future operations.
- Assess and track overall financial health, primarily by using key financial ratios common to SaaS companies and marketplace.
- Determine gross margin and net margin contributions of our products or product lines.
- Examine and evaluate the cost-efficiency of each department, in light of what percentage of the company's financial resources each department consumes.
- Work with individual departments to prepare budgets and consolidate into the company's overall corporate budget.
- Compare historical operating results against budgets and forecasts, and perform variance analyses to explain differences in performance and make improvements going forward.
- Consider opportunities for the company to expand or grow; map out growth plans, including capital expenditures and investments.
- Evaluate new investments or products by looking at return on investment analyses.
- Build monthly and quarterly reporting packages for senior management team and the Board of Directors.
- Build relationships with peers and financial leaders across the organization.
What You Will Bring to Dscout:
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting required.
- Minimum 4+ years' experience in corporate FP&A functions, preferably in a SaaS industry setting.
- Experience utilizing NetSuite and Adaptive Insights.
- Previous financial modeling experience for a range of reporting focuses.
- Previous experience creating dashboards and KPI reporting.
- Proficiency with systems and previous automation and/or process improvement a plus.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to accomplish tasks in a timely manner and provide regular updates.
Of course, what is outlined above is an ideal set of expectations; however, business needs and other projects and tasks may shift, and additional tasks could be assigned at the discretion of your manager.
