Traveler-Friendly Insight

Remote-First & Nomad-Friendly: This role is fully remote with no office requirement, making it a strong fit for location-independent professionals based anywhere in Latin America. Oowlish works with US and European clients, so expect some overlap with US Eastern or Central European business hours — likely a morning-to-afternoon window in LATAM time zones (UTC-3 to UTC-6).

Timezone Flexibility: While not explicitly stated as async, software engineering roles at LATAM-based firms collaborating with US/EU clients typically require 4–6 hours of overlap, not full synchronous days. This leaves room for flexible scheduling around travel.

Visa & Location Considerations: The role is open across Latin America. Digital nomad visas worth exploring include Brazil's Digital Nomad Visa, Costa Rica's Rentista/Digital Nomad Visa, and Colombia's Digital Nomad Visa — all viable for remote workers earning income from foreign clients.

Cost of Living vs. Typical Engineer Salary: Without a disclosed salary, it's hard to benchmark precisely. However, if compensated at mid-to-senior LATAM market rates (USD 3,000–6,000/month), purchasing power is strong in cities like:

  • Medellín, Colombia: Comfortable living at ~USD 1,200–1,800/month
  • Buenos Aires, Argentina: Very affordable at ~USD 800–1,200/month
  • Mexico City, Mexico: ~USD 1,400–2,000/month for a quality lifestyle

Travel Perks: No explicit coworking or travel stipend is mentioned, but the home-office setup and fitness benefit (Total Pass) suggest support for a healthy remote lifestyle.
