Traveler-Friendly Insight

This role is a fully on-site, workshop-based position near Totton, Southampton, UK. It requires hands-on physical assembly and wiring of electrical control panels and MCCs — work that cannot be performed remotely under any circumstances. There is no remote or hybrid component to this job.

For digital nomads or location-independent workers, this role is not compatible with a nomadic lifestyle. The job explicitly requires daily presence in a workshop, use of physical tools, and direct collaboration with on-site teams including supervisors, testers, and the quality department.

Additionally, the posting states applicants must already be legally authorised to work in the UK — no visa sponsorship is available. This rules out most digital nomad visa pathways or tourist visa arrangements.

What to look for instead: If you are a skilled electrical engineer seeking location flexibility, consider roles such as remote electrical design engineer, CAD/schematic designer, automation systems consultant, or SCADA/PLC programmer — which can often be performed partially or fully remotely and are more compatible with a nomadic lifestyle.

Trant Te-Tech design, custom build and install a wide range of high quality control panels, motor control centres (MCCs) and automation systems, offering conventional, intelligent and withdrawable systems with outstanding reliability and functionality.
