Traveler-Friendly Insight

This role is remote but firmly timezone-anchored: you must be available 14:00–23:00 SAST (South Africa Standard Time), which mirrors U.S. Eastern business hours (8 AM–5 PM ET). That 9-hour window with a defined end time is workable for remote life, but it significantly limits where you can realistically base yourself.

Timezone compatibility by nomad destination:

  • Lisbon, Portugal (WAT/WET): Lisbon is only 1–2 hours behind SAST, making the shift run roughly 12:00–21:00 local — very manageable. Cost of living is moderate (~$1,800–$2,500/month for a comfortable setup). Portugal's Digital Nomad Visa (D8) is an excellent fit if you can meet the minimum income threshold.
  • Bangkok, Thailand (ICT, UTC+7): The 14:00–23:00 SAST window translates to 19:00–04:00 local — essentially a night shift. This destination is not practical for this role.
  • Medellín, Colombia (COT, UTC-5): Shift runs 07:00–16:00 local — actually a pleasant morning schedule. Colombia's Digital Nomad Visa is available and cost of living is low (~$1,200–$1,800/month).

The role is restricted to South Africa per the job posting, so international nomading may conflict with employment terms. Clarify with the employer before relocating. No travel perks, coworking stipends, or equipment budgets are mentioned.
