Traveler-Friendly Insight

This is an on-site, in-person role at a Delta Hotels by Marriott property in Edinburgh, Scotland. It requires physical presence at the hotel daily, meaning it is not compatible with a digital nomad or remote-work lifestyle. There is no async or location-independent component — the role involves hands-on maintenance, guest room repairs, and workshop management that cannot be done remotely.

For travelers who are interested in Edinburgh specifically, this could work as a longer-term local contract if you're already based in or relocating to the city. Edinburgh is a relatively high cost-of-living city by UK standards; without a published salary, it's difficult to assess purchasing power, but UK hospitality maintenance roles typically pay £22,000–£28,000 annually — enough to live modestly in Edinburgh but with limited surplus for frequent travel.

The standout perk for travel-minded individuals is the Marriott Discount Card, offering benefits on hotel stays and F&B across 140 countries — a genuine travel perk for employees who enjoy exploring on days off.

  • Not remote-friendly: Physical presence required at all times
  • Travel perk: Marriott discounts in 140 countries
  • Best suited for: Someone settled in Edinburgh or planning to relocate there

If you're seeking a truly location-independent role, this position is not a match — look for remote facilities coordination or virtual property management roles instead.

At Delta Hotels by Marriott, we like to keep things simple and get them done right. We're a busy, friendly team, and we're looking for a handy, reliable Maintenance Team Member to help us keep the hotel looking sharp and running smoothly.

We are looking for a highly motivated person with a real "can do" attitude. If you're someone who loves solving problems, stays positive when things get busy, and takes pride in a job well done, we want to hear from you!

What You'll Be Doing
  • Assist with planned preventive maintenance (PPM): General repairs like painting, changing silicone, or basic plumbing and electrical jobs.
  • Keeping rooms in perfect condition: Doing regular walk-throughs to catch little issues (like a loose door handle or a burnt out lightbulb) before a guest does.
  • Helping our guests: Heading up to guest rooms to fix any quick issues with a smile and a "no problem" attitude.
  • Working as a team: Supporting the Maintenance Manager and helping other departments.
  • Staying safe: Following the usual health and safety rules to keep yourself, the team, and our guests safe.
  • Sorting the workshop: Keeping your tools tidy and letting us know when we're running low on supplies.
What We Expect
  • A flexible approach to working hours (including one weekend a month)
  • Previous experience in a maintenance or handyman role is preferred
  • An electrical or plumbing qualification is a bonus but not required
  • Attention to detail and practical problem solving
