Traveler-Friendly Insight

This role is listed as fully remote with headquarters described simply as "Remote" and is open to candidates anywhere in the world — an excellent fit for location-independent professionals.

Schedule & Timezone Flexibility: The job description mentions Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) but makes no explicit mention of required core hours or a fixed timezone. However, collaboration with marketing stakeholders, cross-functional teams, and engineering leadership typically implies some overlap with a central timezone (likely US or European business hours). Expect to negotiate a workable schedule overlap rather than being fully async.

Visa Considerations: Since the role is open worldwide, digital nomads can leverage a range of visa options:

  • Portugal (Lisbon): Portugal's Digital Nomad Visa (D8) suits remote employees earning above the threshold (~€3,280/month). Lisbon is a top nomad hub with affordable coworking spaces.
  • Thailand (Bangkok/Chiang Mai): Thailand's LTR (Long-Term Resident) visa or tourist visa with border runs. Cost of living is very low — an architect-level salary goes extremely far here.
  • Colombia (Medellín): Colombia's digital nomad visa (up to 2 years) is easy to obtain. Medellín offers a growing tech scene and low costs.

Practical Notes: No travel perks, coworking stipends, or equipment allowances are mentioned explicitly. Given Vonage's enterprise scale and global client base (Airbnb, WhatsApp, Snapchat), the role likely involves occasional virtual meetings with distributed teams. Confirm async-friendliness during the interview.
