Remote DBA with Secret Clearance - TekSynap USA — Columbus
Traveler-Friendly Insight
This role is not suitable for location-independent digital nomads. While listed as "remote," it carries strict requirements that make it incompatible with a traveling lifestyle:
- U.S. Citizenship required — only American citizens may apply.
- Active Secret (IT-II / Tier 3) security clearance — this clearance is issued and maintained under U.S. federal oversight, and working from foreign countries would likely jeopardize or violate clearance terms.
- Approved states list — you must reside in one of ~38 specified U.S. states; no international or even all-U.S. state flexibility is permitted.
- Periodic on-site presence at Fort Belvoir, Virginia (National Capitol Region) is required, ruling out slow-travel arrangements far from the DC metro area.
Schedule: Day shift, Monday–Friday (U.S. Eastern time implied given the Fort Belvoir requirement), with potential evening/weekend on-call. This is a fixed-hours, U.S.-anchored role.
If you're a nomadic DBA looking for true location flexibility, seek roles with companies that do not require federal security clearances and are open to international or fully distributed teams without state/country restrictions.
