Traveler-Friendly Insight

Location Flexibility: Brightwheel is a fully distributed team with employees across every US time zone. The listing is open "Anywhere in the World," making this a strong candidate for location-independent work — but there's an important nuance: the emphasis on US time zones across the distributed team suggests you'll need meaningful overlap with US working hours (likely ET–PT), narrowing async freedom somewhat.

Timezone Considerations: Partnering directly with the CEO and CTO implies regular synchronous meetings. If you're based in Europe (e.g., Lisbon, GMT+1), morning calls are feasible. From Southeast Asia (Bangkok, GMT+7) or beyond, early morning standups may be challenging depending on the team's core hours.

Visa & Entry Options: Since no specific country is required, digital nomad visa holders (Portugal's D8, Spain's Digital Nomad Visa, Costa Rica's Rentista) could potentially work well, especially if you're a non-US contractor. However, if hired as a US employee, you'd need to verify tax and employment compliance in your host country.

Nomad Destination Fit:

  • Lisbon: Great timezone overlap with US East Coast mornings; cost of living ~$2,500–3,500/mo for comfortable living.
  • Bangkok: Very low cost (~$1,500–2,000/mo) but challenging US timezone overlap for sync calls.
  • Medellín: Excellent US ET overlap (same timezone), ~$1,800–2,500/mo — a top pick for this role.

No travel-specific perks (coworking stipend, equipment allowance) are explicitly mentioned in the posting.

Who You Are

You're an AI-native, experienced product manager who thrives in high-ownership environments and knows what it means to truly own a core product area. You're energized by the full spectrum of the job — from iterating on live features to investing in greenfield 0→1 bets — and you have the judgment to know when to pursue each. You're comfortable in ambiguity, decisive under pressure, and relentless about customer impact.

You are:

  • A product owner who has driven a core product area end-to-end — setting strategy and goals, building the roadmap, and delivering measurable outcomes
  • Sharp on prioritization — you can look at a universe of possible bets and quickly identify what's worth pursuing, what to cut, and why
  • Skilled at right-sizing — you set appetite and scope work accordingly, balancing incremental improvements with bigger swings
  • Impact and customer-obsessed — you keep the customer and business at the forefront, and know how to cut through the noise to focus on what truly matters to drive value
  • AI-native in how you work — you use AI tools daily to move faster, think more clearly, and raise your own ceiling as a PM
  • A strong cross-functional partner — you build trust with engineering, design, and partners, and know how to move a team forward with clarity and momentum
  • A boundaryless builder — you prototype, automate, and ship using AI as your co-builder

What You'll Do

This is an individual contributor role with significant scope and exposure. You will own a core product area and partner directly with our CEO and CTO to deliver product experiences that matter to the business and to our customers. You'll:

  • Own the strategy, roadmap, and execution for a portion of our core SaaS product — from iterating on existing features to defining and launching new ones
  • Balance 0→1 product bets with high-leverage incremental improvements, knowing when to invest big and when to right-size
  • Set appetite, scope accordingly, and hold your pod to a high bar on speed, quality, and customer impact
  • Drive AI into the product in ways that genuinely improve outcomes for providers and families — not as a checkbox
  • Define success metrics, track performance, and communicate progress and tradeoffs clearly to leadership
  • Partner tightly with engineering and design to ship with urgency, unblock the team, and keep the pod focused on what matters
  • Contribute to Brightwheel's product culture — raise the bar for product quality, velocity, and customer impact

What You Bring

We are open to a variety of backgrounds, but strong candidates usually bring:

  • 5+ years of product management experience with meaningful ownership of a core product area
  • Proven ownership of complex, cross-functional product initiatives with measurable outcomes
  • Strong product judgment and prioritization — you know what to work on, what to cut, and can drive alignment while balancing speed, quality, and learning
  • Deep comfort with product metrics, experimentation, and funnel analysis (SQL a plus)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including with executive audiences
  • A strong sense of ownership and bias toward action — you define the problem, you don't wait for it to be handed to you
  • AI fluency in your daily workflow — you use AI tools to move faster, go deeper, and operate more like a full-stack product owner across discovery, design, and execution
  • Experience building and shipping AI-powered product features (bonus)
  • B2B SaaS background, especially in products with complex operational workflows (bonus)
