Compensation & Benefits Manager - Phnom Penh — Columbus
Traveler-Friendly Insight
This role is explicitly described as full-time and on-site in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. There is no remote or hybrid component mentioned, making it unsuitable for digital nomads or location-independent professionals seeking flexible arrangements.
That said, Phnom Penh is increasingly popular among expats and long-stay travelers due to its very low cost of living. For context, monthly expenses (rent, food, transport) for a comfortable lifestyle in Phnom Penh typically run $800–$1,500 USD, compared to ~$2,000–$2,500 in Lisbon or ~$1,200–$1,800 in Bangkok. If this role offers a locally competitive HR manager salary (typically $1,500–$3,000/month in Cambodia's corporate sector), the purchasing power can be significant.
Visa considerations: Cambodia offers a readily accessible E-class business visa (renewable indefinitely), making long-term residence relatively straightforward for foreign professionals. An ordinary business work permit would be required for formal employment.
- No remote/async work — must be physically present in Phnom Penh
- Low cost of living offsets the absence of a disclosed salary
- Cambodia business visa is one of the most flexible in Southeast Asia
