Building Maintenance Tech - Cayman Islands On-Site — Columbus
Traveler-Friendly Insight
This is a fully on-site, physically hands-on role in George Town, Cayman Islands. It requires a valid Cayman Islands driver's license and a local trade license, meaning it is not suitable for digital nomads or location-independent workers. The role demands a fixed 40-hour work week with the expectation of working outside regular business hours and traveling between local sites.
That said, for skilled trades professionals looking to relocate to the Cayman Islands, this can be an appealing lifestyle move. The Cayman Islands offers a warm Caribbean climate, no income tax, and a high standard of living — though the cost of living is notably high.
Visa considerations: The Cayman Islands does not currently offer a dedicated digital nomad visa. For this role, the employer (Dart) would likely sponsor a work permit for qualified non-Caymanian candidates. Candidates should verify work permit eligibility and sponsorship with the employer.
- Tax advantage: Cayman Islands has zero personal income tax, so the CI$50,000–CI$70,000 salary (approx. USD $60,000–$84,000) is take-home pay.
- Cost of living: Significantly higher than mainland cities — expect premium housing, groceries, and transport costs.
- Perks relevant to relocation: Full medical insurance, pension, and enhanced leave help offset relocation costs.
This role is best suited for a skilled trades professional seeking a stable, well-compensated relocation opportunity in the Caribbean, not a nomadic lifestyle.
