Traveler-Friendly Insight

Remote Flexibility: This is a contract/1099 role with a "Work From Where It Makes Sense" (WFWIMS) policy — a strong signal for location flexibility. However, you must be based in or legally able to work from one of the listed U.S. states (FL, CO, IL, MA, NH, RI, ME, CT, GA, SC, NC, TX), which limits true nomadic freedom to within U.S. borders.

Timezone & Async: Executive search is inherently client-facing and relationship-driven, meaning fixed availability during U.S. business hours (ET/CT primarily) is likely required. Fully async work is unlikely — expect real-time calls with law firm partners, GCs, and executives. Nomads in Europe or Asia would face challenging timezone overlaps.

Visa Considerations: Since this is a 1099 contract role, you must have U.S. work authorization. Non-U.S. citizens would need appropriate status (e.g., EAD, O-1, or similar). This role is not suitable for non-U.S. digital nomad visas in other countries, as client availability requires U.S. hours.

Income vs. Cost of Living: At $50/hr for a full-time equivalent (~2,000 hrs/year), gross income could reach ~$100,000 — plus placement fee bonuses. This income is very comfortable in lower-cost U.S. states like FL or TX, but keep in mind the geographic restrictions prevent leveraging lower COL destinations abroad.

  • Occasional Travel: The role requires some client-site travel, so budget flexibility and a reliable home base are important.
