Remote Project Engineer at GE Vernova - Germany — Columbus
Traveler-Friendly Insight
Remote Status: This position is officially tagged as remote (#LI-Remote), based in Germany. However, the role involves coordinating on-site warranty actions, issuing work permits for field activities, and campaign planning with clients — meaning some travel to project sites is likely, even if the home base is remote.
Timezone Constraints: Fluency in German is a hard requirement, and stakeholder coordination implies working within Central European Time (CET/CEST). This is not a fully async role — client-facing sales activities, project interfaces, and scheduling require real-time availability during German business hours (roughly 8am–6pm CET).
Visa Considerations: The role is restricted to Germany. EU/EEA citizens can work freely. Non-EU nationals would need a German work visa or EU Blue Card. Germany does not currently offer a broadly accessible digital nomad visa, though the "Freiberufler" freelance visa exists for self-employed individuals — not applicable here as this is an employment role.
Nomad Lifestyle Fit: Limited. The German language requirement, CET timezone lock-in, and likely periodic site visits make this a poor fit for location-independent nomads. It suits someone based in Germany who wants remote flexibility within the country rather than globe-trotting freedom.
