Remote Project Director Qualitative Research UK - M3 — Columbus
Traveler-Friendly Insight
This role is tagged #LI-Remote, indicating it is a fully remote position based in the UK. For digital nomads, this creates both opportunity and constraint: while the work itself is location-independent, UK employment typically requires residency or the right to work in the UK, limiting visa flexibility for non-UK nationals.
Timezone considerations: As a Project Director managing a client service team and liaising with senior management, expect core collaboration hours within GMT/BST (UTC+0/+1). The role involves managing escalations and client relationships in real time, so full async flexibility is unlikely — plan for at least a 4–6 hour daily overlap with UK business hours.
Nomad destination feasibility:
- Lisbon, Portugal: UTC+0/+1 — near-perfect timezone alignment. Portugal's Digital Nomad Visa (D8) suits remote workers earning above a threshold. Cost of living is moderate, making a UK-comparable salary stretch comfortably.
- Tenerife (Canary Islands): UTC+0/+1 — excellent timezone overlap. Part of Spain; EU residency required for long stays.
- Bangkok, Thailand: UTC+7 — significant 6–7 hour offset from UK; real-time client management would be challenging. Better suited to async roles.
Travel perks are limited — no equipment stipend or coworking allowance is explicitly mentioned. The cycle scheme and subsidised gym membership are UK-centric benefits that may not translate abroad.
