Presales Architect at Twilio - Remote Singapore — Columbus
Traveler-Friendly Insight
This role is listed as remote-first and based in Singapore, which gives you a home base in one of Southeast Asia's most connected and infrastructure-rich cities. However, there is a critical caveat for nomads: approximately 50% travel is required — roughly 2 weeks out of every month. This makes it very difficult to maintain a fully nomadic lifestyle; you need stable residency in Singapore and a reliable travel schedule built around enterprise customer meetings across the APAC region.
Visa considerations: You must be legally authorized to live and work in Singapore. Singapore's Employment Pass or Tech.Pass are the most relevant options for tech professionals — tourist and digital nomad visas will not suffice given the employment nature and frequent in-country presence required. Twilio's remote-first policy does not mean location-agnostic for this role.
Cost of living context: Singapore is one of the most expensive cities in Asia. If Twilio's compensation is benchmarked locally, it should be competitive, but the cost of living is significantly higher than other APAC tech hubs like Kuala Lumpur or Ho Chi Minh City. There is no flexibility to base yourself in a cheaper APAC city.
- Travel perks: Heavy customer-facing travel likely comes with covered travel expenses — a practical benefit for frequent flyers.
- Not suited for: True nomads or those seeking a fully async, location-independent arrangement.
