Traveler-Friendly Insight

RenoFi is explicitly a remote-first company — built that way from day one in 2018 — which is a strong structural green flag for location-flexible work. However, this Mortgage Processor role has important caveats for nomads and travelers.

Timezone constraints are real: The role requires proactive telephone communication with US-based borrowers, loan officers, investors, and contractors. This means you'll need to reliably cover US business hours (broadly ET to PT, roughly UTC-8 to UTC-5). Living in Europe or Southeast Asia is theoretically possible but would require working late evenings local time, which is unsustainable long-term.

  • Best nomad bases: Latin America (Medellín, Mexico City, Buenos Aires) aligns almost perfectly with US Eastern/Central time — ideal for this role.
  • Challenging bases: Lisbon (UTC+1) would mean working 2–10 PM local; Bangkok (UTC+7) would be nearly incompatible with US business hours.
  • Medellín, Colombia (UTC-5) offers ~$1,200–1,800/mo comfortable living, making a US mortgage processor salary highly competitive there.

Visa consideration: Colombia, Mexico, and Panama all offer digital nomad or long-stay visa pathways suitable for US-employed remote workers. Mexico's temporary resident visa and Colombia's digital nomad visa are accessible options.

No specific travel perks (coworking stipend, equipment budget) are mentioned. The role demands reliable phone and internet connectivity — a non-negotiable for nomads.

Mortgage Processor — RenoFi

RenoFi is transforming the way homeowners finance their renovations while continuing to serve traditional mortgage demand. We are building the nation's leading renovation lending platform, empowering homeowners to tap into their future home value, not just the equity they already have.

The future of mortgage operations isn't just about moving files — it's about creating clarity, momentum, and confidence for every homeowner we serve. Our operations team sits at the center of that mission, ensuring that every loan moves smoothly from application to funding.

As a Mortgage Processor at RenoFi, you'll play a critical role in helping families turn renovation plans into reality. You'll manage your own pipeline of loans, work closely with loan officers, underwriters, and contractors, and bring both precision and urgency to every step of the process. RenoFi offers Agency, Government, Non-QM, Renovations, Construction to Perm, Land Loans, and HELOCs.

This isn't a production line role. It's an opportunity to be part of a small, collaborative team inside a fast-growing fintech lender that is leveraging mortgage operations excellence in the customer and loan officer experience.

  • Prepare files for underwriting by verifying income, assets, liabilities, credit, and property documentation.
  • Manage your active pipeline, tracking milestones, and ensuring all timelines are met or exceeded.
  • Identify potential issues early and work collaboratively to prevent delays or last-minute surprises.
  • Maintain detailed notes and updates in the LOS to ensure complete visibility for all stakeholders.
  • Deliver an exceptional experience for homeowners and loan officers, balancing speed with precision.
  • Support continuous improvement by sharing feedback on systems, workflows, and borrower experience.

Who You Are

You're a detail-oriented, organized, and driven professional who takes pride in keeping loans moving. You understand that behind every file is a family, and your work directly impacts their ability to purchase, refinance, and improve their home.

  • A proactive communicator who stays ahead of deadlines and keeps everyone informed.
  • A natural problem-solver who finds solutions instead of excuses.
  • A multitasker who thrives in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment.
  • A team player who enjoys working closely with sales, underwriting, and operations partners.

About RenoFi

RenoFi's mission is to empower every homeowner to be a renovator. Founded in 2018, RenoFi created the world's first Renovation HELOC — called the RenoFi Loan. RenoFi Loans enable homeowners to borrow based on the after renovation value (ARV), which dramatically increases a homeowner's borrowing power by 11x on average, all without having to refinance out of their existing low mortgage rate.

By leveraging RenoFi's proprietary Renovation Underwriting technology platform, RenoFi provides lending partners with a turnkey solution to offer the best renovation financing solutions in the market. Over time, RenoFi evolved into becoming the world's first one-stop-shop for renovation finance, offering every renovation financial product available — from renovation home equity loans, to unsecured home improvement loans, to land loans, construction loans, and more.

To date, RenoFi has helped finance over $1 billion in renovation projects and is backed by leading investors including Fifth Wall, Canaan, First Round Capital, and TruStage Ventures. Learn more at www.renofi.com.
