This role is remote within the United States, but it carries significant constraints that make it poorly suited for a digital nomad or location-independent lifestyle.
- Fixed timezone requirement: Training is strictly 9:00am–5:30pm EST Monday–Friday, and go-forward shifts start between 8:30am–10:30am EST. You must be reliably available in the Eastern timezone, limiting flexibility for anyone in significantly different time zones.
- Weekend rotation required: One weekend day (Saturday or Sunday) is mandatory, reducing schedule freedom further.
- Wired internet required: The role requires a wired (not Wi-Fi) internet connection with at least 25Mbps download and 5Mbps upload, plus a quiet, distraction-free space. This rules out most coworking spaces, cafes, and shared accommodations typical of nomad life.
- US-only and state-restricted: Candidates must be US-based, and NY, CA, AK, HI, NM, and IL are excluded. This eliminates major nomad hubs like Los Angeles and New York City.
- Active P&C insurance license: This credential is US state-specific and non-transferable internationally.
If you're a US-based remote worker settled in one location, this role offers stable work-from-home employment. However, for true location-independent travelers, the fixed EST hours, wired internet mandate, and weekend shifts make this a poor fit. Join Our Team as a Remote Experienced and Licensed Customer Service Representative!
Within our Customer Response Center, the Remote Customer Service Representative provides timely, accurate and responsive information and service to policyholders and agents for a division of Personal Lines products, plans and programs. Independently solve problems relating to policies within scope and escalate others as appropriate. Identifies, analyzes, and owns customer policy needs to ensure high customer satisfaction, growth and retention of business.
Training: Paid training is Monday – Friday, 9:00am - 5:30pm EST (full time). Training is a critical component to your success, and that success starts with reliable attendance. Attendance and active engagement during training is mandatory for success in this role.
Shift: After onboarding and training is complete, go-forward shifts will have a start time between 8:30am – 10:30am EST with a weekend rotation. One weekend day (Saturday or Sunday) will be required with an alternate day off mid-week when working the weekend.
Work Location: All equipment is provided. However, to work from home you must have dependable, wired internet connectivity with an upload speed of at least 5Mbps and a download speed of at least 25Mbps, along with a quiet, secure, distraction-free place to work.
License: Active P&C Producers insurance license REQUIRED.
Note: We are currently not hiring in NY, CA, AK, HI, NM, or IL.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree or 1+ year of insurance experience preferred.
- 2+ years of related Customer Service experience required.
- Ability to review, record and organize written data from a variety of sources with no prescribed format is essential.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.
- P&C Producers insurance license required.
Pay Philosophy: The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
