Remote Dari Interpreter Contract Role - Work Anywhere — Columbus
Traveler-Friendly Insight
This role is one of the most nomad-friendly interpreter positions available. As an independently contracted, fully remote, on-demand audio/video interpreter, you work via a web-based platform — meaning your office is wherever you have a reliable internet connection, a quiet space, and a computer or smartphone.
Schedule flexibility is a key advantage: you take inbound calls on demand rather than holding fixed shifts (though availability windows may be expected — confirm with LSA at application). This async-adjacent model suits travelers across multiple time zones, though higher call volumes may correlate with US business hours for Dari-speaking LEP communities.
Location requirements are minimal: you need a quiet, secure interpreting space — a private room in a coliving space, serviced apartment, or guesthouse works well. No physical office visit is required.
- Lisbon, Portugal — Cost of living ~$1,500–$2,000/month for comfortable nomad life; EU Digital Nomad Visa available for non-EU contractors.
- Bangkok, Thailand — ~$1,000–$1,500/month; Thailand LTR Visa or tourist visa with border runs common among contractors.
- Medellín, Colombia — ~$1,000–$1,400/month; Colombia's digital nomad visa is straightforward for independent contractors.
No travel-specific perks (coworking stipend, equipment budget) are mentioned. Bring your own headset and ensure your accommodation has stable broadband before booking.
