Traveler-Friendly Insight

US-Only Remote — Limited Nomad Flexibility

Branch explicitly restricts this role to candidates located within the domestic United States, and requires current work authorization without sponsorship. This means traditional digital nomad setups — working from Southeast Asia, Europe, or Latin America — are not compatible with this position as listed.

That said, within the US, this is a genuine remote-first role. Branch is described as a "remote-first company," which typically implies async-friendly culture and no mandatory office commute. The job description does not mention fixed hours or specific timezone requirements, suggesting some scheduling flexibility for US-based remote workers.

Salary vs. US Nomad Hubs

  • Austin, TX or Nashville, TN: $120–125k is competitive and stretches well in mid-cost US cities.
  • Boise, ID or Asheville, NC: Popular remote-worker destinations where this salary affords a comfortable lifestyle.
  • New York or San Francisco: This salary is below market for high-cost metros; nomading within the US to lower-cost cities maximizes take-home.

Relevant Perks: The monthly home-office stipend directly supports a remote setup. There is no mention of a coworking allowance or travel/meetup budget, which is worth clarifying during interviews.

If you're a non-US-based nomad, this role is a pass. Look for similar Python/data engineering roles at companies with explicit global-remote policies instead.
