Eldercare Expert Contractor at Sam - Remote Flexible — Columbus
Traveler-Friendly Insight
This role is among the most travel-friendly arrangements possible: a fully remote, part-time, 1099 independent contractor position with no fixed hours and completely self-determined scheduling. Sessions are virtual and capped at 60 minutes, meaning you can deliver them from virtually any location with a reliable internet connection and a quiet, professional backdrop.
Async vs. real-time: Sessions are booked by clients on a scheduling platform, so while the sessions themselves are synchronous (video calls), you control your calendar entirely — making this compatible with multiple time zones or shifting travel schedules. You simply open availability windows that suit your current location.
Visa considerations: Since this is a U.S. 1099 contractor role, you must be authorized to work in the U.S. for tax purposes. However, physically you can deliver sessions from abroad on a tourist or digital nomad visa, as the work is performed remotely. Countries with digital nomad visas well-suited for this include:
- Portugal (D8 visa): Affordable base in Lisbon; reliable infrastructure for video calls
- Mexico (Temporary Resident): Medellín-comparable costs; US timezone overlap is easy
- Thailand (LTR visa): Low cost of living; schedule US sessions in morning Thailand time
Since earnings are not guaranteed and depend on client bookings, this is best treated as a supplement to existing income rather than a primary revenue source while traveling.
