Traveler-Friendly Insight

Remote-First, But US-Centric: Fieldguide explicitly positions itself as a remote-first company, which is encouraging for location-independent workers. However, this role is deeply embedded in US audit standards (GAAS, PCAOB, AICPA), and requires a US CPA credential — strongly indicating the company expects candidates to be US-based and to work within US regulatory contexts.

Timezone Considerations: No explicit timezone requirements are stated, but collaboration with product, engineering, and AI teams suggests alignment with US business hours (likely PT or ET overlap). Nomads based in Western Europe (e.g., Lisbon, UTC+1) could manage this with an adjusted schedule, but Southeast Asian bases (Bangkok, Bali) would face challenging late-night overlap requirements.

Visa & Location Reality: Since a US CPA is required and the company is US-based, most international nomad visa arrangements (e.g., Portugal's Digital Nomad Visa, Thailand's LTR Visa) are theoretically compatible — but employment classification, tax obligations, and CPA licensing may impose practical constraints. Confirm contractor vs. employee status before relocating internationally.

  • Lisbon: Comfortable cost of living (~$2,500–$3,500/mo for a professional); timezone overlap manageable.
  • Medellín: Very affordable (~$1,500–$2,500/mo); ET-adjacent timezone is ideal for US collaboration.
  • Bangkok: Affordable (~$1,500–$2,500/mo) but UTC+7 makes US-hours overlap very difficult.

No travel-specific perks (coworking stipend, equipment budget) are mentioned in the posting.
