Our Review

KONO Mirage ISO 200 — a film that reacts to where you point it

The gist: If you're shooting a mix of golden-hour beaches and dim night markets on the same trip, Mirage gives you two looks in one roll without swapping stock.

  • Light-adaptive color: subtle, bright rendering in sunny conditions that shifts toward saturated, cool tones as light drops.
  • Hand-processed batch: exposed with KONO's "Reanimator" device, so no two rolls behave identically — part of the appeal for travel journaling.
  • ISO 200 / C-41: develops at any standard color lab worldwide, including small shops in most tourist cities.
  • 24 or 36 exposures: the 36-exp roll stretches further on a multi-city itinerary.

A detailed review on analog.cafe called it warm, medium-contrast, and notably grainy — "one of the grainiest ISO 200 colour films," but with a creative character Kodak's mainstream stocks don't offer.

Best for: nomads who want unpredictable, artsy travel shots without carrying multiple film stocks. Skip it if: you need clean, low-grain, color-accurate shots for client work. Runs ~$9.59 — check the current price before buying.
