Our Review
Moment BaseCage — a featherweight phone rig that actually fits in a daypack
The gist: A slim, open-rail cage that turns your phone into a modular travel filmmaking rig without the bulk of a full camera setup.
- Built to pack: Cast aluminum construction with a low-profile, open-rail layout, so it travels flat and stands on its own even with a lens attached.
- Room to grow: NATO rails on top and sides, 39 × ¼"-20 threads, 4 × ⅛"-16 threads and 4 cold shoe mounts for mics, lights and handles.
- Tripod-ready: An Arca-compatible base drops straight onto Arca-style tripod heads and gimbal plates.
- Two phone mounts: An industrial clamp for a locked-in grip or a magnetic MagSafe mount for fast on/off, with about 95mm of lateral adjustment.
Moment’s own product page lists compatibility with iPhone, Galaxy and Pixel phones and with QuickLock, 37mm and 67mm filters on Moment lenses, plus cable-routing slots in the upper corners.
Best for: Travel creators who shoot handheld, on a tripod or on a gimbal and want one compact rig. Skip it if: you only shoot casual clips, since the accessories you will want (mic, light, handles) cost extra. Runs ~$99 — check the current price before buying.
