Traveler-Friendly Insight

Remote-Friendly Role with a Manufacturing Twist: TE Connectivity has tagged this position #LI-REMOTE, indicating it is intended to be performed remotely within the United States. However, the nature of the role — leading cross-functional teams to solve complex manufacturing and quality issues — strongly implies regular on-site travel to plants and facilities. Digital nomads should expect this to be a travel-heavy remote hybrid, not a fully location-independent position.

Timezone & Schedule Constraints: While no fixed hours are stated, collaborating with plant operations teams, senior management, and cross-functional groups typically requires alignment with US business hours (Eastern to Pacific time zones). This limits flexibility for nomads based outside the Americas.

Salary vs. Nomad Cost of Living: The $130,400–$163,000 annual range is generous. A quick comparison:

  • Lisbon, Portugal: Comfortable living costs ~$2,500–$3,500/month — this salary offers significant savings potential if permitted outside the US (currently US-only).
  • Bangkok, Thailand: ~$1,500–$2,500/month — exceptional runway, but US employment restrictions apply.
  • Medellín, Colombia: ~$1,200–$2,000/month — excellent value, again subject to US residency requirements.

Bottom Line: This role is US-based remote but likely involves frequent plant visits. It suits US-based professionals who enjoy travel within the country, not international nomads. If you're seeking a truly location-independent engineering role, look for companies with global remote policies and async-first cultures.

At TE, you will unleash your potential working with people from diverse backgrounds and industries to create a safer, sustainable and more connected world.
