Remote Systems Analyst at MANTECH - NC Defense — Columbus
Traveler-Friendly Insight
This role is not suitable for location-independent digital nomads. Although the job posting lists the remote type as "Fully Remote," the description explicitly requires candidates to be within commutable distance to New River, NC, with weekly onsite working sessions at that location. This effectively anchors the role to coastal North Carolina.
Visa & Citizenship: U.S. citizenship is a hard requirement, and a Secret-level security clearance is mandatory. This completely eliminates non-U.S. citizens and makes any international travel during employment complex — clearance holders must notify relevant authorities of foreign travel and contacts. Digital nomad visas abroad would likely conflict with clearance obligations.
Schedule flexibility: The role is full-time and tied to a government contract cadence. While some remote work is possible between on-site sessions, the weekly commute requirement means you cannot relocate to Lisbon, Bangkok, or Medellín regardless of salary.
Bottom line for travelers: At $59K–$98K annually, this salary is competitive for the Carolinas but largely irrelevant for nomad cost-of-living comparisons — you must live near New River, NC. If you're seeking a truly location-independent defense/IT role, look for positions that specify no geographic restriction and do not have weekly on-site mandates.
Requisition #: R69661 | Location: USA-NC-Cherry Point | Remote Type: Fully Remote | Security Clearance Required: Secret | Time Type: Full Time
