Solutions Engineer at Infisical - Remote US Role — Columbus
Traveler-Friendly Insight
This role is listed as primarily remote, which sounds promising for location-flexible workers — but there is a hard geographic constraint: you must be based in the Central or Eastern US time zone (CT/ET). This effectively rules out most international nomad arrangements and limits flexibility to US-based travel within those time zones.
The role involves daily customer calls, live demos, discovery sessions, and webinars, meaning synchronous availability during US business hours (roughly 9am–6pm ET/CT) is essential. This is not an async-friendly position — expect a structured, meetings-heavy schedule.
For nomads who travel domestically within the US East or Central time zones, this works well. Cities like Austin, TX, Nashville, TN, or Miami, FL offer coworking-friendly environments within the allowed time zones. If you occasionally travel to Europe, a few weeks in a ±1–2 hour overlap window (e.g., Azores, Iceland) may be feasible, but extended stays in Asia or the Pacific are impractical.
- Lunch stipend and work setup budget are helpful for coworking space costs on the road.
- Annual in-person offsites and conferences mean some paid travel is built in.
- No salary range is published, making cost-of-living comparisons difficult — but YC-backed Series A startups typically pay $120K–$160K+ for this role, which goes far in lower-cost US cities.
Bottom line: best suited for US-based remote workers who are comfortable with a largely synchronous, customer-facing schedule rather than true location-independent nomads.
